Borealis and Aspiravi enter into long-term renewable energy partnership
Aspiravi will supply Borealis with 120 GWh of renewable energy annually from 20 onshore wind turbines located across eight wind parks in Belgium, starting in 2026. This renewable energy will be used to power Borealis’ operations in Belgium, reducing the company’s Scope 2 emissions by approximately 54,100 metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) annually.
“This agreement brings us closer to our goal of sourcing 100% of our electricity from renewable sources by 2030 and is a testament to how we reinvent essentials for sustainable living,” said Wolfram Krenn, Borealis Executive Vice President Base Chemicals and Operations.
Achieving climate goals
“This partnership with Borealis will not only strengthen the Belgian energy landscape, it also contributes directly to the climate goals of Borealis and of Belgium.” said Bernard Steverlynck, CEO Aspiravi Onshore.
